Holding a positive vision is like having a right direction for a driver in order to get to the destination. What should be the right destination for me? When I was small, my parents told me that education is the only path towards the bright future, and I believed in it. For the past few years, I found out that education is not the only path; in fact, it wouldn’t even guarantee any thing. In this competitive society, successful people are those who know what they want, and fight for them---have a clear vision for their life. After last week’s class, I spent a week to think what are my visions for my life that I almost forgot. Become rich since so obvious, but it should not be one of my vision because it was just a dream of mine without any action.
For the short term, I want to graduate on May 2009 and pass the CPA exam within a year. But accountant is not what I want to do in the future. I will go to graduate school for finance, and hopefully I can finish it within four years while working as a full time. After that, I think I will work for ten years to save money. My real dream is to own a small café shop with my loved one and have simplest life. At this point, I want to be rich, to go around the world and help out the poor, to see the different world, try my best to help for a better world…

sometimes i feel scholl is not important too, but every job required college degree. i think your vision is not hard to reach and just keep upo what you are doing right now, then you will be fine. i cam sure you can finish your degree with four years and four years to get a master degree as you work for full time as well.
That is very true. In order to achieve your goals, you have to fight for it. Not many things (if any) come easy, and that is what makes it worth it. To know that what you have, you earned.
Goodluck with your Finance degree.
Hi, Erin,
I believe that it was very good that you spent a week thinking about your vision. I think everyone should take time for this.
I feel that a life without vision seems to have some advantages. You may be able to relax more or to have more free time. Of course nothing is wrong with choosing to live life without a vision. However, I feel that a life with vision is more meaningful – and it is my way.
I also like your idea to first make some and then do exactly what you want to do with it. I will be your café’s regular customer!!
My parents placed a very big importance on education too. I think it is very powerful. I think it definitely gives people an advantage over people who are not as educated. I think you could still succeed without an education but you have to be really lucky and smart.
Mostly, I think education still takes a big part in your future carrer. But it's not all of it in people's vision. Education might be come in handy in your work but not your life. Vision about life just like your Cafe shop is the esstial part of your life, or at least I think. By the way, I have the same one as you like going around the world. But I am not like you on thinking about helping people, I just simply want to feel the air of somewhere I like, see the beauty of the sites.
I have often dreamed of having my own little cafe and living a simple life like you describe. This is very appealing. For me, maybe when I retire this will be a reality. But it is possible for you anytime. If this is what you want...you can make it happen.

very deep, unfortunately once we start working itr never ends lol, as far as college i agree it is only a paper and guarantees nothing, everysone who is in baruch wants to be rich hence we are here wasting away, but you are correct in saying that it takes action to get to the dream or wealth. and good luck with the cafe
thats really cool. a cafe would be really good since that's what seems to be "in" right now. i wish you the best with your studies and your potential business.
After reading your post, I do see how that matches the title of your blog "Keep it simple." You do want to have a simple life style and it sounds really appealing to me as well. However, as life goes on, it is so difficult to keep it simple if not being implied as lazy. Things happen and distract the pattern of the life. I hope you will always keep your life simple becasue it has been like a dream for me. A dream that is never possible to put any action with it.
I wonder why a lot of Baruch College students want to be rich?
