Time management is crucial, but it is not an easy work. I don’t know how many times I had sat down and made a schedule for myself which always end up as just plans on piece of paper. There are 168 hours a week, and only 18 hours of school. Where are the rest 150 hours? I always tell myself that if I can use the time more efficiently, life won’t be as difficult as it is now, and my future will be in a better image.
8 hours of sleep is consider standard for everybody, and that is 56 hours for a week (when school starts, I never get this much of sleep). 3hours for transportation is required in New York City that is another 21 hours for the week (I am so jealous for people who can do their works or readings on the subway, for me that is the time to relax, because my mind doesn’t operate during this time). Subtract the 20 hours for the part time work; I have still 50 hours which means 7 hours a day. Where did they go: study for the class, gather together with friends, attend the organization, go to church and help the Sunday school? It seems a lot of thing for me to do, but I just don’t see how I can have time to waste. In fact, I wasted most of my free time. In this point I don’t consider myself as good manager.

May be like the title of your blog says, "keep it simple" with your living and schedule in life. From reading the last few sentence of this post entry, I guess it sounds like you might, perhaps, may be, I do not know, possibly, have a busy schedule. I just like the title: keep it simple.
hey, Huaiyi Chen
I see you are pretty good in your time managing, however, adding all your time together is only equal to 127 hours. But you said that you need 56 hours for sleeping plus 21 hours for transportation, and only 50 hours left for studying and doing other things that means 7 hours a day. when in a week you have 168 hours (7 days time 24 hours) - 127 hours = 41 hours . So where is 41 hours left?
Hi Sasha,
The best way to manage time is to multi task. If you are travelling in the train or bus, you can study the chapters for class. This way, you do not need to spend extra time from your 41 left over hours.
In addition, planning your time every day would help you achieve a lot. Sometimes, we just think too much but get to do less. Making a list of things to do in a day and then checking off one by one makes the life much easier.
Hey I know how you feel about doing things on the train. When I get on the train I just want to relax, unless theres a test that day. In the morning I'm just too tired and while going home, I feel like a rest is more appropriate. The way I see it, free time is yours to enjoy or to waste, or it won't be free time, but it would end up becoming study time or homework time or something like that.
