Hi! Everyone in my management class! Nice to meet you all this semester!
My name is Huaiyi Chen( or Erin). I am junior at Baruch College pursuing Accounting Major and Mathematic Minor. As a little child, I have imagined myself having a successful career in a business world. By coming to America, I thought it is a big forward step towards to my dream, but life is not that easy at all.
Even though, accounting is not what I am interested the most, it is one of the biggest advantages to attend Baruch College which I can’t miss. And I was convinced that accounting is the strongest basic for future business. So that is why I am here…
After accounting, I will definitely continue my study on International Business or Finance.
( plus tonight is Chinese New Year Eve, happy holiday to all, wish you a wonderful year)

Heyy Erin! I hope its okay that I decided to call you Erin because its easier to say, :P and because I would definitely kill your Chinese name by trying to say it. Anyway, I'm sure you get that a lot..
So, you are right, an artist and a businessman are definitely on different ends when it comes to viewing the world. An artist can become a businessman easier than businessman can view the world through the eyes of an artist, at least that is in my opinion. An artist is more of a free spirited observer. A businessman sees everything or mostly everything in numbers/public relations/margins/profits/losses/etc. Once you have an innovative view of the world around you, you can learn to restrict your observations to the different aspects in which you are interested/which you are studying, which often occurs when creating art. We shouldn't forget, an art needs to be mastered, and the artist needs to be inspired. Successful business conduction occurs by means of 'artful' techniques which one needs to master (in order to be successful). Just like management, and marketing and anything else that is contained and allows the conduction of the the broad term 'business' has a form of art attached to it; you just have to seek it out and make it work for you. :D
It was nice to get to know you! I wish you all the success you can get in the business world, since this is what you have imagined yourself doing since you were a child.
See you in class!!
:)
恭喜發財,利事到來(逗來)
請多多指教,集思廣益。
Hi Erin,
Happy New Year! Being an accounting major and a maths minor is a huge plus and a great combination.
Wish you all the best.
Hey Erin,
I feel the same way. I'm majoring in accounting but that's not what interests me most. Are you planning to work as an accountant after you graduate or pursue a career in some other field?
